Virginia Janssen is a Wisconsin artist currently living in Green Bay. She works in a variety of mediums: paint, clay, textiles, bas-relief sculpture, and bronze. She holds a BFA from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and a certificate from La Scuola Dell'Arte Della Medaglia at the Roman Mint in Rome, Italy. She holds a license to teach art to students aged 3-21 in Wisconsin, and she is currently an adjunct professor at St. Norbert College in De Pere. Though known for her medallic sculpture and portraiture, lately Janssen's work has concentrated on the natural world. She has rediscovered an early love of textiles, tapestries, and embroidery, an interest cultivated by and shared with her mother, who passed away in 2023. Janssen finds connection and solace in this traditional art form.
